Veterans Supportive Housing and Service Center
Yakima Housing Authority is proud to announce that construction at Chuck Austin Place is complete! Chuck Austin Place is a new 41 unit, permanent supportive housing development serving formerly homeless veterans and 12,000 SF supportive service center for both residents and the veteran and homeless community. It is located on the site of the former United States Marine Corps Armory located at S. 16th Ave. and W. Tahoma in Yakima, WA and is an adaptive reuse of the existing building along with new construction. The development includes 14 studios, 17 one-bedrooms, and 10 two-bedroom units. Amenities for residents include on-site laundry, community kitchen and lounge, as well as an outdoor garden and fenced doggie area. Press Release - Chuck Austin Place

On-site services include a health and dental clinic provided by Yakima Neighborhood Health Services, a Care Coordinator to assist both residents and visitors in connecting with community services, veteran family services provided by Blue Mountain Action Council, and Veterans Administration case managers. Other organizations serving the homeless community can use on-site meeting and office space to connect with clients, hold classes and workshops, or host events in the gym. The services center has additional offices that are currently for lease. For additional information, please reach out to the contact listed below. YHA’s goal is to provide a one-stop shop for veterans experiencing homelessness to be connected with essential resources and benefits in our community.
Now Leasing - Units are available to veterans experiencing homelessness and making less than 60% AMI, which is $33,180 for an individual or $37,920 for a couple. Apply For Housing
Fundraising - YHA is seeking donations to provide a playground, benches, and a permanent memorial to honor the courage and sacrifice of our community’s veterans.
