About Supported Employment Services

At Yakima Housing Authority (YHA), we help individuals prepare for and enter the workforce through Supported Employment Services, offered under Washington State’s Foundational Community Supports (FCS) Medicaid program.

Our services are person-centered — tailored to each individual’s skills, interests, and goals. Whether you're just entering the workforce or looking to re-enter after time away, our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Our Employment Services Include:

Work one-on-one with a specialist to explore your career goals, job preferences, and readiness to work.

We assess your strengths, skills, and areas of growth to find the right employment fit.

Our team helps match you with the right employer and position based on your unique profile.

We work with local employers to create job opportunities and advocate on your behalf.

Get the training and coaching you need to succeed on the job — including orientation support, workplace communication, and task mastery.

We offer ongoing support to help you keep your job, manage challenges, and grow in your role.

Whether it’s your first job, or you're returning to work — we’re committed to helping you build a path to career success.

Vale Square Resident Programs & Classes

YHA also provides a variety of on-site programs at Vale Square to promote wellness, independence, and community engagement:

  • Cooking Classes
  • Crocheting Class
  • Financial Literacy Workshops
  • Food Box Sign-Ups and Delivery
  • Arts & Crafts (Holiday-themed)
  • Thanksgiving & Christmas Resident Parties
  • Free Book Lending Library
  • Health Classes on Digital Literacy and Diabetic Living

These programs are designed to support residents’ daily lives while complementing employment readiness and personal development.

How Do You Qualify?

You may be eligible for Supported Employment Services if you meet any of the following:

✅ You are 16 or older, receive Medicaid, and are diagnosed with a long-term substance use disorder or have a dual diagnosis.
✅ You need support with at least 3 Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), or at least 1 hands-on ADL such as personal care.
✅ You are enrolled in:
